I’ve always wanted to be my own boss and ACE SPACE has provided the perfect environment for me to take the next step. After leaving a full-time job in the publishing industry, sometime later I began to receive a surprising number of offers for freelance work. I’m currently writing for a number of publications, in addition to taking on odd editing and copywriting jobs. 

One thing I know about myself is that I really struggle to stay focused at home. There’s so many distractions! Whether it’s the TV, a snack, patting my dog, a snack… On top of that, there’s nowhere at my house I can really set up a productive workspace. When I’m at my ACE SPACE desk I tuck into my work, stick to a schedule and make the best possible use of my time there. The vibe is chill and super creative – much like the AWF residents you’re likely to bump into.

Another great part of ACE SPACE is the collaborative atmosphere. I mentioned to Sabina recently I wanted to improve my skills with programs like Photoshop and Illustrator. Sab and I are now combining forces on some cool new projects that’ll involve just that. Bouncing ideas off others is a great way to build on concepts, gain new perspectives and of course make working that little bit more fun.  

I highly recommend ACE SPACE for all kinds of creative work – whether that’s freelancing or otherwise. It’s a beautiful space with some of the best people getting around. Really looking forward to the opportunity to tee up some more collaborative projects with fellow ACE SPACE and AWF residents.
